New Parent Morning Tea (For Babies 0 - 12 months)

Please come and join us at the next PDMBA New Parent Morning Tea, on Saturday March 25th. The New Parent Morning Tea (bubs 0-12 months) is a wonderful opportunity to meet with other parents of multiples in a very relaxed and informal setting, and enjoy a cup of tea. We have volunteers joining us on the day to help cuddle babies, so you may even get to drink it hot! The morning tea will be held at Agnes Walsh House from 9.30 - 12 noon. It is free to attend. We will also have a physio in attendance to check your abdominal muscles and talk to you one on one about post pregnancy health and exercise. Please follow the link to book your place (there is no cost, but it allows us to see who is coming). Please make sure you book enough tickets for all adults and babies attending (so two parents and triplets would be 5 tickets). Unfortunately, spots are limited, due to space - so please pop on and do it soon. Looking forward to seeing you all there. An informal session to educate and provide parents and carers with the practical skills to empower their children to stay safe.   WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES To provide parents and caregivers  with a thorough knowledge of the content, themes, core concepts and strategies of the Protective Behaviours Program. To develop problem solving and assertiveness skills in children. To educate parents  and caregivers in the issues of abuse and abuse prevention. To assist participants in presenting the program in a manner whereby the process is congruent with the program content. To provide parents and caregivers with simple practical teaching activities designed to increase their child’s/children’s personal safety.

Expectant Parent Meeting - 11.30 to 2pm The expectant parent meeting is opportunity to hear from other multiple parents share their tips and stories on preparing for your multiples arrival, hospital stays and bringing your babies home. We will discuss what you might need two of, what you might be able to do before your babies arrive to prepare, how to manage visitor and tips to get yourself out of the house with newborn multiples! The expectant parent meeting is a free event and you do not need to be a member to attend.    Breastfeeding Workshop 2.30-4.30 The breastfeeding workshop is ran by a lactation consultant giving advice on how to breastfeed your multiples. She will discuss topics such as useful equipment and tips on tandem feeding.  The breastfeeding workshop is for members only and costs $30 payable in cash on the day please.   Please purchase a ticket for each adult attending.

PDMBA's new parent morning tea is a informal session where parents can meet and chat to other parents of multiples 'who get it'. It's a great chance to meet some new people and may pick up a tip or two from others. We also have womens physio that comes along and can chat to any mums with concerns one on one. There will be some volunteers on hand to make sure you get to enjoy a hot cup of tea or coffee and are more than happy to cuddle babies for you to enjoy some morning tea.    New parent morning teas are a members only event and are free to attend. Commonly known as Australia’s ‘queen of common-sense’, Maggie Dent is an author, educator, and parenting and resilience specialist with a particular interest in the early years and adolescence.  Maggie’s experience includes teaching, counselling, and working in palliative care/funeral services and suicide prevention. Maggie is an advocate for the healthy, common-sense raising of children in order to strengthen families and communities. She is a passionate, positive voice for children of all ages.  Now an in-demand writer and speaker, Maggie is a regular contributor to Fairfax's Essential Kids website and Teachers Matter magazine. She can also be heard on commercial and ABC radio around the country and appears on TV programs such as The Daily Edition, Sunrise, Today and news. Maggie grew up in a large family on a farm in rural south-west Western Australia with 4,000 acres and 10,000 sheep. Her childhood and adolescence were shadowed by low self-esteem, and this experience built the foundation for her work today. Today she lives with her husband in the Illawarra in NSW. She is the author of nine books, several e-books and a prolific creator of resources for parents, adolescents, teachers, educators and others who are interested in quietly improving their lives. Maggie is a patron of the Bold Park Community School in Perth, the Peel Youth Services, Mandurah WA, and the WA Association of Teacher Assistants (WAATA). She is an ambassador for The Sanctuary - The Hills Women's Shelter in NSW.

Learn valuable lifesaving skills for free! Learn valuable lifesaving skills for free. The P+DMBA is offering all members the opportunity to attend a free short first aid course presented by Royal Life Saving WA.  The training session runs for three hours and covers first aid for common child injuries including burns and scolds, choking, drowning and how to perform infant and  child resuscitation or CPR. Numbers are strictly limited to 20 participants per session and reserved for financial members only. Please purchase a ticket for each adult attending.
