Breastfeeding Workshop for Expectant Parents January 2025

Hello expectant parents, You are invited to attend a workshop on breastfeeding multiple birth infants. The workshop is designed specifically for multiples families and will cover the following topics: Establishing a healthy milk supply Introduction to expressing and lactation aids Logistics of feeding two babies – single vs tandem feeding, scheduled vs demand Managing the feeding of ‘early term’ and ‘preterm’ infants Supporting the breastfeeding mum of multiples We are delighted to welcome Dr Sharon Perrella (Registered nurse, Registered Midwife, International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) to present.  She has extensive experience in caring for breastfeeding families in neonatal nurseries and in the community, and is now also a lactation researcher at The University of Western Australia. Expectant mums are encouraged to bring their partner or support person to the workshop. The workshop will be limited to 6 participants (+ their partners/support person). We will require a minimum of 3 participants (+ their partners/support person) in order to run the workshop. The registration fee is $40 for MBAWA members and $70 for non-MBAWA members. Bring your questions and queries and hopefully they can be answered! Tea/coffee and snacks provided. This is a free event and you do not need to be a member to attend. Please reserve a ticket for each adult attending.

Please come and join us at the next MBAWA New Parent Morning Tea, on Saturday 23rd November 2024.  The New Parent Morning Tea (bubs 0-24 months) is a wonderful opportunity to meet with other parents of multiples in a very relaxed and informal setting, and enjoy a cup of tea.  The morning tea will be held at Agnes Walsh House from 10:00am - 12:00 noon. It is free to attend.  Please follow the link to book your place (there is no cost, but it allows us to see who is coming). Come bounce on in and join us at Inflatable World! The Committee of volunteers, together with the Multiple Birth Association for WA, would like to invite you to our exclusive, members-only 2024 end of year event at Inflatable World (Leeming). MBAWA has subsidised tickets (usually $18 per child!) to ensure families have the opportunity to attend this event at an affordable price. Let the kids go wild on the inflatables and take this opportunity to catch up with friends who you have met through MBAWA over the year/s. If you've recently joined us, don't worry we're a friendly bunch! Come along and meet other members of your local multiple birth association and join in for a fun afternoon together as we start winding down and closing out yet another busy year with multiples in tow. THE DETAILS Date: Saturday 16th November 2024 Time: 3:00pm to 5:00pm (last entry permitted at 4:30pm) Location: Inflatable World, 55 Farrington Road Leeming 6149 Inflatable World House caters for children of all ages. Children can play on the inflatable activities as many times as they like during the session and there will be venue staff positioned around the inflatables to ensure everyone is safe and has a fair go.  Socks must be worn by everyone within the inflatables, this includes babies under 12 months. Socks may be purchased from the venue for $3 a pair. Food and Beverages: There is a cafe kiosk that will be open during our private event for your convenience. Hot chips, snacks and a variety of cold and hot beverages will be available for purchase. Alternatively, families are welcome to bring your own food and beverages to our event, however please note no alcohol is permitted. ABOUT OUR EVENT We have exclusive access to the entire venue at Inflatable World. Your membership fees and support of our fundraising initiatives throughout the year enables the Committee to offer a subsidised entry fee to this event - thank you for your continued support as we continue to celebrate 50 years of MBAWA this year! Due to venue capacity restrictions this is a limited ticket event. Tickets are limited to 220 children (babies under 12 months are not included). Ticket sales will close on Wednesday 13th November unless sold out earlier. When selecting your tickets please add one for each family member attending.  Got a question about the event? 2024 Annual General Meeting with Special Resolution

PLEASE NOTE: The Official Annual General Meeting notice as well as attachments has been emailed to members. If you have not received this, please contact Jess & Nat at info@mbawa.org.au.   The AGM is an important event for our Association. It is a formal meeting which provides a chance for all members of our Association to come together and hear about what has been achieved in the past year and what our goals are for the coming year. We also present to you a financial report, detailing our income and expenditure for the previous year and our current financial position.    During this meeting, we will be proposing an update to the current constitution. The constitution has been amended to comply with the 2015 Associations Act and to make small changes to allow the Association to be sustainable and around for future years to come.    Edit: nominations are now closed. To nominate a current member or committee member for a shining star award, complete the form.  To nominate a life member, please complete the form.  All committee positions will be declared vacant at the AGM and we encourage new volunteers to join our management committee.  Please click HERE to nominate for committee. Calling all parents/caregivers of multiples aged 24 months and under!!! Come join us at the next MBAWA New Parent Morning Tea to meet other parents/caregivers of young multiples over morning tea and a cuppa in a relaxed and informal setting. Have you been to one before? Come again and tell us how you're going! Repeat attendees are welcomed with open arms!  The event will be held at Agnes Walsh House, King Edward Memorial Hospital from 10:00am - 12:00pm on Saturday 18th May 2024. There will be a couple of extra sets of hands to cuddle babies on the day but you may also wish to bring a playmat with you.  This event is a members only event and free to attend. Please login to book and make sure you book enough tickets for all adults and babies attending (so two parents and triplets would be five tickets). The Multiple Birth Association Western Australia (formerly the Twins Plus Club of WA, founded in 1974) is celebrating its 50th anniversary with high tea on Sunday 5th May 2024. We would be pleased if friends, old and new, could join us at the Lavender Bistro at 12.30pm. Tickets are $30 for high tea or $35 for high tea and a glass of sparkling rosé.
